Makris Foundation
Founded in 2010
Founded in 2010 by Margaret L. Makris in honour of her late husband, the distinguished Greek-American composer Andreas Makris, the Makris Foundation was established to support music, culture, education, and artistic excellence across generations.
Building upon Andreas Makris’s lifelong commitment to artistic creativity and cultural dialogue, Margaret Makris dedicated the Foundation to preserving and promoting his music while also encouraging the development of young artists, scholars, performers, and educational initiatives internationally.
Over the years, the Foundation has supported research projects, publications, scholarships, concerts, recordings, festivals, competitions, and cultural collaborations in both the United States and Europe. Through its activities, the Foundation has contributed to the preservation of important musical heritage and the advancement of artistic and educational opportunities for future generations.
Today, the spirit and values of the Foundation continue through Makris Music Society and its affiliated artistic and educational initiatives, carrying forward Margaret Makris’s vision rooted in artistic excellence, generosity, education, and cultural preservation.
